- Oct 21, 2023
The Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC), Trivandrum Municipal Corporation, and GIZ India have launched a Mega Awareness Campaign facilitated by the Sustera Foundation and Center for Environment and Development (CED) focusing on Circular Economy Solutions Preventing Marine Litter in Ecosystems. The Campaign was launched on June 1st and will continue till the last week of December 2023. Regular beach clean-up drives, wall art, art installations, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) contests, social media awareness campaigns, and awareness skits in public spots are planned under this campaign. Additionally, as the part of the programme, a regular beach clean-ups is conducted (Saturday &/ Sunday during morning or evening) at Veli, Vettucaud, or Shankhumukham Beaches. To ensure maximum outreach and conduct a successful campaign, we need the participation of young volunteers in our program. For this, we request the support of the Bhoomithrasena Clubs in colleges in Thiruvananthapuram in enrolling student volunteers to join the beach clean-up campaign every week as well as to participate in the IEC contests and public awareness skits. Participation certificates will be provided to all the volunteers. Participation is invited for:
1) Beach clean-up programs
2) Waste management skit in city and beaches
3) Art installation and wall art in the coastal corridor and city spaces.
